The Miami-Dade Community Action Agency is offering Micro Enterprise Grants in an effort to help maximize the resources available to assist low-income small business owner
The Miami-Dade Community Action Agency (CAA) with funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) will be implementing a Micro Enterprise Grant Program to assist low income small business owners throughout Miami-Dade County. Grants in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded to eligible small business owners through a competitive process, in each of the thirteen Miami-Dade County Commission Districts. To qualify, applicants must: be a low to moderate income small business owner (200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines); have a business with no more than five (5) employees including the owner; be able to provide proof of “for profit” business designation; and be located within the confines of one of the thirteen Commission Districts.
Grant applications will be available at all CAA Community Service Centers as well as on the CAA web page on the Miami-Dade County Portal at www.miamidade.gov/caa , beginning on Monday, January 4th, 2010. Information will also be disseminated by Miami Dade’s Department of Small Business Development (SBD) to all of the small businesses registered with that Department.
The deadline for submitting applications is 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Applications should be submitted to any of the CAA Community Service Centers. Successful applicants will be notified of award on, February 9, 2010.
