The Community Economic Development and Design Clinic (CEDAD) at the University of Miami School of Law will be hosting a rights restoration and sealing and expungement event at Virrick Park in Coconut Grove. Attorneys from the ACLU, State Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, and the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association will be in attendance to perform the rights restoration and sealing and expungement services at the event, Saturday January 30, 2010, 9:00am-1:00pm at the Virrick Park Community Center, 3255 Plaza St, Coconut Grove, FL 33133
CEDAD invites all residents in the Miami area to attend this community-wide event. CEDAD’s goal is to help give hundreds of people in the Miami area a second chance at life through restoring their voting rights and sealing and expunging their records. In addition to the legal services provided, both employment and health services will be offered during the event by Transitions, Inc. and Helen Bentley. Transitions, Inc. will provide employment services specifically tailored to help ex-felons and persons with criminal records find jobs, and Helen Bentley will provide HIV Screening and blood pressure tests.
