Library changes dates for arts and crafts, SMART program tutoring

The previously scheduled Valentine’s arts and crafts project at the Coconut Grove Library on Feb. 13 will take place a day earlier.

The library, 2875 McFarlane Rd., decided to close on the 13^th because of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, which runs Feb. 13-15 along South Bayshore Drive, beginning at McFarlane. The event is expected to attract as many as 150,000 people.

The library also canceled the SMART tutoring, which also was scheduled for the 13^th at 10 a.m. Each week, Miami-Dade County teachers volunteer to help students who are having difficulty with their homework in science, math and reading. The three one-hour sessions will resume at 10 a.m. the following Saturday.

The rescheduled Feb. 12 Valentine’s event is geared for young children and their parents who will create their own art projects. The one-hour activity begins at 2 p.m.
