Dharma Yoga Studio has recently opened the Grove. The studio, 3170 Commodore Plaza, is focused on spreading the knowledge of various types of yoga while participating in community efforts.
On Feb. 12, instructors from Dharma Yoga Studio will join forces with instructors from Waalay Yoga of Key Biscayne and RinaYoga of Coral Gables to lead a sunset yoga class on the water to raise money and awareness for Haitian communities that have recently been distressed by the Jan.12 earthquake.
The yoga class will be complemented with live music performed by Jai from 6 p.m.-8:15 p.m. on the deck of the Grove Isle Hotel & Spa, 4 Grove Isle Dr.
Participants are asked to bring $25 in cash or a check donation. All event proceeds will go to Ecoworks International, a local nonprofit organization that is concerned with poverty issues. Ecoworks is currently working in Haiti to provide feeding programs, tent camps and orphanages. The group also is working on urban planning and construction.
Organizers of the yoga event ask that anyone interested in participating e-mail Loree@dharmastudio.com as space will be limited. Babysitting and kids yoga also will be offered.
